COURSE STRUCTURE

According to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the 2-year B.Ed. programme is designed around three major curricular areas. The curriculum emphasizes theory, pedagogy, practical teaching experience, and professional development to prepare effective school teachers.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (3-year or 4-year) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying degree.
  • OR a Master’s Degree with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized university is also accepted.
  • Relaxation in minimum marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PwD, EWS, and other reserved categories is provided as per the applicable Central or State Government rules.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

  • Check Eligibility
    • Ensure you meet the minimum academic qualifications prescribed by NCTE (generally a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 50% marks, subject to applicable relaxations).
  • Apply for Admission
    • Submit the application through the admission portal or process notified by the State Government, University, or the designated admission authority.
  • Entrance Examination (where applicable)
    • Many states and universities conduct a B.Ed. Entrance Examination.
    • Some institutions may admit candidates based on merit in the qualifying examination, depending on the admission policy of the concerned authority.
  • Merit List / Result
    • A merit list is prepared based on:
      • Entrance examination score,
      • Qualifying examination marks, or
      • A combination of both, as prescribed by the admission authority.
  • Counselling
    • Qualified candidates participate in centralized or university-level counselling.
    • During counselling, candidates choose their preferred colleges based on merit rank and seat availability.
  • Document Verification
    Candidates must produce original documents such as:
    • Graduation/Postgraduate mark sheets and degree certificates
    • Class 10 and 12 certificates
    • Valid photo ID
    • Category/EWS/PwBD certificate (if applicable)
    • Transfer Certificate (TC) or Migration Certificate (if required)
    • Passport-size photographs
  • Seat Allotment
    • Seats are allotted according to:
      • Merit rank
      • Category/reservation policy
      • Candidate’s college preferences
      • Availability of seats
  • Fee Payment and Confirmation
    • After seat allotment, candidates must pay the prescribed admission fee within the stipulated time to confirm their admission.
  • Final Admission
    • On successful verification of documents and fee payment, the candidate is formally admitted to the B.Ed. programme.
